Dancing Together sessions are a way for community to come together not only to enjoy beautiful forms of dance, but to also learn respectful ways of being with ourselves, each other, and with this land. We would like to express deep gratitude to the Lekwungen People who have been dancing here since time immemorial.
All genders, all disabilities, all ages, queer-friendly, community social dance. Dancing Together brings together people with diverse genders and sexualities, people of diverse backgrounds, and people with diverse ways of moving, as well as friends, family and supportive people.
There are plans for an access-focused Queer Swing Dance lesson in Spring 2020.
If you would like your email added to the Dancing Together listserv, be in touch.
Dancing Together (www.dancingtogether.org) is led by an organizing collective, although it has been on pause for a few years.
Example of a previous event:
The most recent session was May 27th at 3:30pm-5:30pm in the Quadra Village neighbourhood. From Kemi: “Join me to learn how to dance the Electric Slide! A popular soul line dance from my childhood that is still going strong, this dance promotes community, inclusion and self expression!”
